Toyota plans to set up a vehicle manufacturing plant in Kenya
President William Ruto signed an agreement with Japanese automaker Toyota in Tokyo committing the company to establish a vehicle manufacturing plant in Kenya.
According to the President, the action will boost Kenya's industrial sector, improve relations between Kenya and Japan, and increase opportunities for Kenyans.
He said, the intention is to make locally produced automobiles reasonably priced in order to deter people from buying used cars.
Mr. Ruto stated, "We need to strike a balance between the quantity of newly manufactured and imported vehicles."
President Ruto observed the agreement being signed in Tokyo, Japan, alongside President Ichiro Kashitani of Toyota Tsusho Corporation of Japan.
