China truck manufacturer Sinotruk Eyes Assembly Plant in Tanzania
Sinotruk International, a heavy trucking company based in China, intends to build a vehicle assembly factory in Tanzania to help the country's auto sector flourish.
Mr Li zhongyuan, Country Manager of Sinotruk International in Tanzania, stated over the weekend in Dar es Salaam that the decision is prompted by the attractive investment climate that allows for the development of excellent goods among manufacturers.
Mr Zhongyuan went on to say that when the assembly facility begins production, it will create 500 employment for Tanzanians.
"As Sinotruk, we aspire to give Tanzanians with high-quality products and services, and to work together to create a bright future for them," he stated at the handover of over 100 heavy-duty trucks to GSM Tanzania via its transportation firm, Galco.
He also stated that Sinotruk is committed to helping to Tanzania's rapid growth of an effective logistics transportation business.
According to him, Sinotruk has long-term partnerships with various firms in the transportation industry, including GSM, Dangote, OILCOM (T) LIMITED, Tanzania Road Haulage (1980) Limited, Golden Coach/Fleet Ltd, ASAS, AZAM, and Mount Meru.
HOWO trucks are busy transporting goods across borders, cities, and villages, he added.
Mr Allan Chonjo, Chief Commercial Officer of GSM, stated that it is a great initiative for both GSM and other stakeholders within and outside of Tanzania's borders, and that the list of their heavy-duty trucks has reached 800 units to increase efficiency and productivity in transportation business operations.
"GSM presently serves the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, and South Sudan. We have three locations in Tanzania, Zambia, and South Africa, allowing us to serve the whole East African and SADC area "She stated.
